World Smile Day

Did you know that Friday the 3rd of October was World Smile Day? The initiative was started by Harvey Ball a commercial artist who created the smiley face in 1963 and seeing his symbol being over commercialised went on to create World Smile Day on the first Friday in October every year to spread smiles and kind acts.
While every day should be a smile day we certainly like the initiative as a great reminder to be positive and help out others.
The idea for the day also got us thinking about the positives of exercise. We have listed some of the positives but let us know if we missed some.
Exercise is free and you can do it anywhere
You do not need special equipment to exercise and you can do it wherever you feel like, at home, in the garden and even in work if you think creatively.
Exercise boosts the enjoyment of being outdoors
If you exercise outdoors you know that it can help increase that outdoor feeling, breathing in fresh air and enjoying the sights and sounds of being out in the open.
Exercise can be fun
It gives you a chance to unwind, enjoy the outdoors or simply engage in activities that make you happy. Physical activity can also help you connect with family or friends in a fun social setting.
Exercise controls weight
When you engage in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn.
Exercise combats health conditions and diseases
Regular physical activity can help you prevent or manage a wide range of health problems
Exercise improves mood
Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem.
Exercise boosts energy
Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you have more energy to go about your daily chores.
