Charity of Choice

Micron Charity of Choice

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries employees volunteer and fundraise individually in their communities for a wide variety of organizations. Together, they also support a Charity of Choice as selected through an all-employee vote. The Charity of Choice campaign is organized and managed by an employee-driven body called Employees Care by Helping Others (ECHO).

Each Charity of Choice campaign provides funding assistance of up to $100, 000 to a registered Canadian charity based in Manitoba for capital projects benefiting children and youth in our province.

EMPLOYEE DRIVEN

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries employees raise money for their Charity of Choice in four ways:

  1. Whenever an employee volunteers or fundraises in their community for a charitable organization, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries makes a contribution to the Charity of Choice campaign based on the amount of time volunteered or amount canvassed.
  2. Whenever an employee volunteers at an event sponsored by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries makes a contribution to the Charity of Choice campaign based on the amount of time volunteered.
  3. Employees fundraise directly for the Charity of Choice (such as at staff barbeques).
  4. Employees contribute through the Provincial All Charities Campaign.

APPLICATION PROCESS

When a new Charity of Choice is sought due to the current campaign nearing completion, an Invitation for Partnership is sent by the ECHO Board to selected charities in Manitoba. The invitation is made to all charities registered on Volunteer Manitoba’s CONTACT database as supporting children/youth and meeting other Charity of Choice criteria. (www.contactmb.org)

The ECHO Board, with assistance from Volunteer Manitoba, reviews all applications to confirm eligibility and to shortlist applicants that will be presented for consideration and vote by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries employees.
